We are looking to fill 2 openings of Sr. Operational DBA located in Jacksonville, FL. One is for regular hours (1st Shift), another - 12 Noon to 9 PM or possibly 1 PM to 10 PM (2nd Shift). While appling, please, notify which shift you perfer or both. The positions are 3 months contract-to-hire opportunities.
Job Description
Support the over all development, implementation and use of the database infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Determine, implement, and manage database backup and recovery strategies, with focus on PIT recovery.
• Installation of new SQL Server database and upgrades.
• Management of database and resource capacity planning.
• Implement and enhance database security using proven methodologies.
• Assist development staff with the debugging and optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Ongoing database performance tuning and upgrades, including: monitoring and evaluation of all database patches and service packs.
• Design and manage database import / export processes used to populate test databases and global data marts.
• Design and implementation of database replication strategies for both internal and Disaster Recovery (DR) requirements.
• Transact SQL and stored procedure development.
• Create and maintain database ERD diagrams.
• Database modeling and design functions.
• Research problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Providing on call support to the IT customer base.
• Provide solutions for analytical projects using SQL Server analysis services.
• Provide solutions for SQL Server reporting services.
• Setup clustered SQL Server Environment.
• Setup mirroring and log shipping.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Mentoring DBA and Jr. DBAs.
Qualifications:
• BSCS or MS degree in computer science or related field, 10 or more years of relevant industry experience.
• 5 or more years of database administration/design experience with RDBMS.
• 3-5 years experience with MS SQL Server 7.0, MS SQL Server 2000, MS SQL Server 2005.
• Experience with additional RDBMS (prefer experience with Sybase).
• Experience with MS SQL Server backup and recovery techniques in a VLDB environment.
• Proven experience in maintenance of SQL Server in VLDB environment.
• Proven experience using Transact SQL, Stored Procedure and UDF.
• Experience with MS SQL Server DTS.
• Familiarity with SQL Server replication services. Familiarity with SQL Server clustered environment.
• Prefer experience designing and implementing data warehouses, including experience with MS SQL OLAP services.
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
• Demonstrated experience in tuning database and its objects. Understanding of databases indexes.
• Understanding of database design practices, including database normalization concepts.
• Prefer background in Microsoft networking.
• Proven ability to work with in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
